    Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'medium-duty work environment' mean for this men's work boot?
Medium-duty environments include jobs like warehousing, light construction, electrical work, and general trades, where reliable protection is needed without the bulk of heavy industrial steel toe boots or shoes. The Timberland PRO Resistor 90660 work boot is built for these conditions, offering lightweight safety shoes with a composite toe, perfect for long hours in active, moderately demanding settings.

Are Timberland PRO Resistor boots good for electrical work?
Yes. They are ESR-rated (Electric Shock Resistant), which means the soles provide a secondary level of protection against electrical shock hazards. This makes them suitable for electricians or anyone working around live electrical equipment.

Is the Timberland Resistor work boot waterproof?
The Resistor 6" is not specifically a waterproof model (it has a premium leather upper but no waterproof membrane). It will hold up in light rain, but for frequent wet conditions, consider a dedicated waterproof boot like the Timberland PRO Boondock 6" Composite Toe Work Boot

    FAQs
    1. Are these work boots waterproof?

Yes, these are waterproof work boots and are ideal for outdoor work or indoor work with exposure to moisture and liquids. If your job site has only light or occasional exposure to water, moisture or liquids then water-resistant work boots may be a better option as they are more breathable. To learn more about the differences, read our blog on Waterproof, water repellent, water resistant: what's right for your work?

    2. Are Timberland PRO work boots or safety shoes good for electrical work?

Yes. They are ESR-rated (Electric Shock Resistant), which means the soles provide a secondary level of protection against electrical shock hazards. This makes them suitable for electricians or anyone working around live electrical equipment.

    3. What does 'medium-duty work environment' mean for this men's work boot?

Medium-duty environments include jobs like warehousing, light construction, electrical work, and general trades, where reliable protection is needed without the bulk of heavy industrial steel toe boots or shoes.

    4. Are the composite toe and plate of these safety shoes as safe as steel toe shoes?

Yes, composite or metal-free safety shoes and work boots provide the same levels of protection as steel toe shoes. Composite toe safety shoes & work boots are often lighter than steel toe shoes and provide the same levels of protection. To find out more about the differences, read our blog on What are the Differences Between Composite Toe, Aluminum Toe and Steel Toe Safety Shoes and Boots.

    5. What is the break-in period for work boots and safety shoes?

Work boots and safety shoes should fit well when you buy them. Your toes shouldn't be able to wiggle and not touch the toe cap. Your heel should sit snuggly but not too tight. Because of the  safety features (toe and plate) built into safety shoes and work boots, they don't loosen up like regular shoes or boots might. We recommend wearing them for a few hours at home before wearing them for a full day of work. After all, you wouldn't wear brand new shoes to go on an 8-hour hike!

    Second time buying these boots

Wore these boots so often over the years that I needed to get another pair. I wouldn’t purchase any other work boots.

    Comfortable but not tough

Ya they are comfy. But if you’re doing work outside(and I mean actually working) then I would go for something else. Have had them for 4 months now wearing daily and they have holes in them. But they are comfortable. I won’t be buying again.

    Great boots

These are fantastic, I have worn blundstones for the last decade and have found that they don't offer me enough support anymore, so I tried the timberland pros out and I am hooked. These are fit great and are super comfy I have found my new favorite boot. And I am picky with footwear! Excellent boots
